  7. Very pleased to see the new site it looks very promising - when at last I managed to get on ! Keep up the good work, happy to help in any way.
The GDBOA was the first Dane Club I ever joined because they sponsored classes at a show near where I used to live (Burnham in Buckinghamshire) - some time in early 1970s. Joyce Wright was there with her first Dane and Girlie and Tim Harms-Cook were stewarding, and very welcoming. That is what a club needs, I was hooked for life. Best wishes, Elaine Hyde

  8. Let me but take a moment of your time, a moment, not to take away from the natural way we look and take care of our Great Danes, not the way we eat, sleep and breathe this wonderful breed, but the in depth way the genetics affect us all. None of us are above the right to let others know the building blocks of our Danes, where they come from, to what their history is, from temperament to illness, right up to their good points.
The not so good amongst us, ignore this chapter, of the rule book of how to breed and look after our Danes. Any way that would weed out this foolishness amongst fools, to see beyond their noses, that it is not us that count, but the Great Danes themselves.
Every footstep we take in the walk of Danes, is as giant as the breed itself, from a hair upon its back, to the very head upon its shoulders. Whatever we do in the breeding or bringing up of Great Danes, affects the future of this wonderful animal, it is not us whom the breed should make proud, but us that should make the breed proud to walk along side us, in every step we make.
Long gone are the days when we should hide under the carpet, things which we should be open about with our breed. Let’s open a new page, of a new chapter, of a new book, a book that we all can write a part of. Let’s find this gene for ( DCM ) let open up screening.
I hope that I have not offended anyone with my open words, for the way I see it, the only people I would offend, would be the people with things to hide.
    I wish you all well.
